Rural Alberta Needs a Distance-Aware Enforcement Plan
A prairie-region brief asking Alberta to measure rural access, travel distance, and illegal-supply pressure before changing adult vaping rules.
One rule, different geography
A single provincial restriction can land differently in Calgary, a small town, and a rural corridor. If lawful adult access disappears locally, replacement demand does not disappear with it. It moves to wherever supply remains available.
What rural communities should ask
- How many legal retail points exist by region?
- How far do adults travel to reach a compliant seller?
- How will complaints about informal sellers be handled outside major cities?
- Will enforcement capacity follow the demand shift?
